The main attraction in Chinchero is the colonial-style church, built on the site of an Inca palace. The walls of the church are decorated with religious frescoes painted during the colonial period.
The town is also known for its vibrant textiles, woven by the local Quechua people. The weavers use traditional methods and natural dyes to create vivid colors, and many of their designs are based on symbols from Inca mythology.
After exploring Chinchero, we will visit the Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo. It is believed that Ollantaytambo was built in the mid-15th century by the Inca emperor, Pachacuti. The town is located at the base of two tall mountains, and is surrounded by terraced hillsides and steep valleys. The town is renowned for its well-preserved Incan ruins, which are some of the best-preserved ruins in the world.
